The annual art show, A Fall Gathering of Artists, returns to Litchfield for its 20th year, once again bringing a four-day exhibit of artwork to the public. This event features approximately 30 award-winning Connecticut artists and artisans. This year they will display their latest creations, including original paintings, prints, photography, jewelry, pottery, woodwork, stained and fused glass.

The exhibit will be open to the public October 11th through October 14th  Columbus Day weekend Friday through Sunday, from 10am to 6pm, and Monday from 10am to 4pm. A special Artists’ Reception will be held Saturday, October 12th from 11am to 5pm, during which there will be art demonstrations and refreshments. The Litchfield firehouse is located at 258 West St. Litchfield CT. Rt.202.

Mally DeSomma founded the show and has been running it since 2000. “This type of exhibit benefits art enthusiasts by offering a variety of artwork at affordable prices.” It also benefits the artists, who are often present during all or most of the show.

“It’s a great opportunity for us to view each other’s work, share technical knowledge, and learn from one another. It also gives the public a chance to get to know the artists and experience their creative vision first-hand.” She considers herself lucky to be able to do the jobs she loves the most; to paint and to teach. Her goal is to draw the viewer in, to invite them to feel and see the same passion I feel as I work on and complete my paintings.

Lorraine Skelskey Chapin, from Southbury, CT, has been part of the show from the start. She brings life to her landscapes by modulating light, color and form. A Plein Aire painter, her passion is capturing scenery that speaks to the soul.

New to the show this yearis Donnalee Robinson, whose elegant one-of-a-kind jewelry creations are lovingly handcrafted using a blend of fine quality materials and imaginative designs.
