<p><strong><em><span style="text-decoration: underline">Charles John Garrett</span></em></strong>, age 82, of Seymour, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, January 3, 2010, peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family. He was the loving husband for 48 years of Florence Mae Bienkowski Garrett, formerly of Shelton. He was born on September 21, 1927 in Staten Island, NY, son of the late William J. and Elizabeth Schuster Garrett. Prior to his retirement in 1994, Charles was a Technical Editor for General DataCom in Middlebury. He was a graduate of the University of Connecticut with a BA in Mathematics. His electronic skills made him an invaluable homeowner. He was a US Army Veteran, serving with the First Cavalry in Japan as a Private First Class.</p>
<p>His loving family, in addition to his beloved wife Florence, includes two sons, James Garrett and his wife, Allison, of Oxford and John Garrett and his wife, Sandra, of Baldwin, NY; a daughter, Elizabeth Garrett of New York City, NY; a brother, Thomas Garrett of Arizona; four grandchildren, Caleb, Connor, and Aidan Garrett of Oxford, and Amy Garrett of Baldwin, NY. He was predeceased by two brothers, William Garrett and Frank Garrett.<br />
Friends and relatives may call at the Miller-Ward Funeral Home, 260 Bank Street (Route 67 across from Klarides Village), Seymour, on WEDNESDAY, January 6, 2010 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm.<br />
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on THURSDAY, January 7 at 11:00 am at St. Michael Church, 75 Derby Avenue, Derby, CT.<br />
Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.<br />
Expressions of sympathy in Charles’ memory may be made to the Fresh Air Fund,<br />

<p><strong><em><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Patricia Hennessy Eklund</span></em></strong>, age 57, of Oxford, the beloved wife of Douglas G. Eklund, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, December 26, 2009 at Griffin Hospital, Derby. She was born in Manhasset, Long Island, NY on July 2, 1952, loving daughter of Gladys Morris Hennessy of Stratford and the late James Hennessy. Patricia was employed by the Oxford Board of Education for 27 years, most recently at the Oxford Center School. She was a graduate of Queens College of New York and received her Master’s Degree and 6th Year Certificate from Adelphi College in New York. She was an avid reader, loved being a homemaker and had a passion for dogs, training her own dogs. She loved being with her family. She taught school for the love of her kids. She had been a resident of Oxford since 1991. Her loving family, in addition to her husband, Douglas, includes her two caring brothers, William Hennessy and his wife, Minty, of Ringwood, NJ and Robert Hennessy and his wife, Kim, of Copiague, NY; sister-in-law Pat Hennessy of Trumbull, CT; and her nephews, Adam Hennessy, William Brasher, and James Hennessy; four nieces, Maura Hall, Erica Hennessy, Shannon Brasher, and Jennifer Hennessy; and two loving grandnephews and one grandniece. She was predeceased by her beloved brother, James Hennessy.</p>
