QuickBooks Error and Internet Explorer

When you open QB you get an error stating Internet Explorer has been removed and needs to be reinstalled in order for QB to open.  Click Okay and it closes. 

A recent Windows 10 update caused IE to be removed in favor of Microsoft Edge.   To resolve the issue and continue to use QB follow these steps:

  1. In the area next to the Start button that reads “Type here to search,” put in Apps and Features.
  2. Click on Optional features.
  3. Click on Add an optional feature and select Internet Explorer.

Let the program reinstall and try QB again.  It should now work. 

One note:  if you are using IE to browse the internet you will have to switch to Edge no matter if you resolve the above if you want to continue using the Microsoft browser.  Otherwise switch to Firefox or Chrome.
